Property Tax Correction Notice
The City of Rockmart has identified a software error that occurred during the transmission of data from the Polk County Tax Assessor’s Office to the City’s billing system. As a result, certain property tax bills recently issued by the City contained incorrect amounts.
This issue
affects only residential properties that qualified for the
Floating Homestead Exemption (HB 581).
City staff are
actively reviewing and manually correcting all affected accounts to ensure that
each property owner receives an accurate and updated tax bill.
Property owners impacted
by this error will receive one of the following:
- A corrected property
tax bill reflecting the accurate amount due, along with an extended payment deadline; or
- A refund if the original payment exceeded the corrected amount due
If your qualifying
residential property was impacted by this error, you should receive a corrected
property tax bill no later than November 7, 2025.
